Our take
Passenger follows a van-life couple stalked by a supernatural entity after they stop at a night highway wreck. It is rated R for strong violent content, some gore, and language. Expect jump scares, demonic choking attacks, a face smashed through a windshield, neck-snapping, impaling, and a field of wrapped corpses run over by the van. Profanity is frequent under stress, and an implied sex scene appears in reviews. André Øvredal delivers stylish scares, but the gore and hell-themed lore make this strictly for mature horror fans
Uplifting themes
The couple protects each other under fire, though the story offers little beyond survival Maddie shows loyalty, but both leads make choices that invite danger
Story (may spoil tone)
After a young couple witnesses a gruesome highway accident, they soon realize they did not leave the crash scene alone, as a demonic presence called the Passenger that won't stop until it claims them both turns their van life adventure into a nightmare.

Talk after watching
- Maddie and Tyler disagree about settling down versus living on the road — how do couples negotiate big life dreams when fear enters the picture?
- The film mixes St. Christopher travel lore with hobo-code symbols and preacher warnings about hell. How does mixing faith imagery with horror change the scare factor?
