Our take

My Spy The Eternal City reunites a CIA agent with a young protégé on a Vatican-adjacent plot. Expect spy guns, a kidnapping scare around a child, damn-and-hell language, and adults told not to give kids alcohol. Fine for 13+ who already watch family spy comedies. Sensitive kids will find the guns a lot

Uplifting themes

A gruff spy keeps showing up for a kid who needs him

Story (may spoil tone)

JJ, a veteran CIA agent, reunites with his protégé Sophie, in order to prevent a catastrophic nuclear plot targeting the Vatican.

Talk after watching

  • A kid is pulled into spy work. What should an adult have refused?
  • Jokes sit next to guns. Did that make the danger feel smaller than it is?
