Our take
This is a dark cartoon crime story, not a kids Batman. A teenage crime-fighter is beaten and killed on screen. Later there are guns, turf killings, and a fight about whether murder is ever allowed. You will hear hell, damn, and crap. Watch with a parent from 16. The death of the young sidekick is hard
Uplifting themes
The story keeps asking whether killing a monster still makes you one Batman holds a no-kill line. Other fighters do not, and the film shows the cost
Story (may spoil tone)
