Deathwoods is a US NR indie comedy-horror about friends on a camping trip who get hunted by a masked woods legend. Frequent f-word talk, beer and drug jokes and skinny-dip flirting. There is also a late stretch of bloody practical kills with axes and other weapons. Reviews call it more campy gore fun than a true scare. Best for older teens who already like throwback slashers, watched with a parent.
Uplifting themes
Friends try to cheer each other up when spirits dip at the start of the trip. Once panic hits, loyalty gets thin fast and the group starts to fray A few characters show care when things go wrong under stress in the woods. Most choices still land reckless and mean once fear takes over the group
Story (may spoil tone)
A weekend of camping intended to break Scott out of his post breakup depression, quickly turns into a weekend of bloodshed, as his friends are picked off one by one by the urban legend that haunts the woods surrounding the small town of Old Hickory, Tennessee.

Talk after watching
- The film leans hard into 1980s slasher cliches for laughs. What still feels scary versus silly?
- Friends drink, flirt, and ignore warning signs. How do group choices raise risk in real life?
