Our take

This is a surreal adult comedy-drama, and frank sexual content runs right through it from the opening to the close. Strong language and some unsettling body-horror edges sit around that core. Sex really is the backbone of the whole story, not an occasional scene. Keep it to older teens and adults, and have a look yourself first if frank sex is a line you hold firmly at home.

Uplifting themes

Under all the strangeness, the film pushes learning, agency, and the right to own your own body. The moral backbone is easy to find. A short talk on the way home follows without any effort Bella keeps choosing curiosity over shame, while the people helping her do so unevenly. None of it is clean or simple. There is plenty here for teens to debate about who behaves well when the pressure is on Questions about gender and autonomy can open a genuine discussion afterward if you decide to chase them. The strange, arty style is still what you watch it for. The learning turns up for families who choose to dig a little deeper

Story (may spoil tone)

Brought back to life by an unorthodox scientist, a young woman runs off with a lawyer on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, she grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

Bella's journey runs into assaults and harsh confrontations that the camera shows plainly. These moments are not constant, but when a rough beat arrives it carries real weight. The violence works in service of the story, never piling up for its own sake

The bawdy comedy leans on frequent strong swearing throughout. It comes often enough to grate on a strict home, and the rowdier scenes stack the words thicker still

Frank sex, nudity, and Bella's sexual awakening carry the story through every chapter. For most families this will be the biggest flag on the whole guide. Take a look yourself first if sexual content lands badly in your home

Drinking turns up as a steady background thread in the social and bawdy scenes. Glasses and party colour appear often enough that a younger teen will spot them, though it never becomes the point

Even wrapped in surreal comedy, the uncanny body imagery and surgical strangeness can unsettle. The sharper body-horror beats might send an anxious viewer out of the room for a moment. For most homes, though, the sexual content is still the larger worry

A few side characters drop dark, self-destructive lines in brief flashes. It helps to name those moments ahead of time for a sensitive viewer. If self-harm talk is already raw in your house, watch it together first

As Bella meets predatory men, coercion and exploitation bring sexual harm into the film as a clear theme. Look it over carefully yourself if that subject is a firm line for your family

The film's strange premise places a newly reanimated, childlike mind inside a grown woman's body. It makes for an odd setup worth talking over. Still, it does not play as a conventional child-abuse story

The men around Bella treat her with sexism and class contempt again and again. That thread is plain enough to open a good conversation afterward about who gets written off as lesser

The surgical, body-horror imagery stays fairly light, with a handful of bloody moments at a moderate level. Weapons and the aftermath of injury are part of the picture too. A sensitive teen is better off hearing about that beforehand

Bella's body is handled as both experiment and spectacle, and talk about bodies runs through the film's bigger ideas. It is worth a brief mention as a theme. A short chat can help if body image is already a tender spot at home

Bella's whole arc turns on identity, independence, and emotional growth, folded into the film's playful philosophy. These threads make for a calm conversation once the credits roll. There is no need to turn it into a lecture

The travel chapters add a little casino and gambling colour as background flavour. Other concerns do the real work here. You could easily miss this thread unless you are listening for it
