View all categoriesOur take
A moody teen romance follows a high-schooler who falls hard for a vampire and gets drawn into the dangers of his world. The main pull is the intense, all-consuming relationship, which some parents may want to unpack, since it leans possessive and obsessive. There is fantasy violence, a frightening hunt, and some blood once a predator sets his sights on the heroine, but no graphic gore or sex. Swearing is very mild, and teens around 13 and up are the right crowd for it.
Uplifting themes
Loyalty, family, and a vampire clan's choice to fight their own nature give the story a few positive threads. The central romance is more tangled, and its possessive streak is worth talking over with teens

The romance is charged and physical in its yearning, with kissing, a boy slipping into the girl's bedroom, and a lot of held-back tension. No sex is shown and there is no nudity, but the intensity is a clear step up from a simple crush

There is talk of blood and a severed artery, and the heroine is left injured and bleeding after the attack. Deaths do occur, but the camera keeps the detail restrained
