Why our age differs

Official is US R. We say 15+ because the stalking and injury are intense, yet the film stays in one house rather than a gore showcase for its own sake

Our take

Hush is a home-invasion horror about a deaf woman stalked in an isolated house. The pursuit is prolonged and personal, with guns, injury, and blood loss part of her fight to survive. Swearing is occasional but includes one harsh sexual insult. A brief kiss early on is the only romance noted. We put it at around US R and up for its sustained fear and violence.

Uplifting themes

Resourcefulness and refusing to give up keep the hero moving. The film is still horror first. Any uplift comes from grit, not a soft lesson speech A deaf woman fights with brains and courage when help is far away. Villains are cruel for sport. Ask what strength looks like when nobody can hear you call Families may talk about deafness, home safety, and asking for help when fear spikes. It is not a how-to class. Keep the chat about feelings and support, not tactics

Story (may spoil tone)

A deaf woman is stalked by a psychotic killer in her secluded home.

Guns matter, and blood loss is used as a threat. Injury is clear enough to sting without turning into a medical close-up marathon. Still too much for younger teens

Talk after watching

  • The hero cannot hear the danger the way hearing characters can. How does that change what courage looks like?
  • Home should feel safe. What would you want family to do after a story this tense?
