Our take

Epic - First Semester follows Aditya studying in London and growing close to Kadali while family expectations press in. Kissing, sleeping together, Plan B, and underwear are discussed rather than shown in explicit scenes. Swearing is mild, and smoking appears socially. We put it at around 14 and up, with a parent nearby for the relationship talk.

Uplifting themes

Aditya learns to balance family expectations with his own path abroad. Friendship and honesty with Kadali matter more than perfect grades Leads are impulsive, messy, and still growing. They make relatable mistakes for older teens, not polished heroes Study-abroad culture clash can prompt talk about independence and communication. Romance dominates over classroom learning

Story (may spoil tone)

Far from home, Aditya wrestles with family expectations, cultural differences and loneliness while studying in London – until he meets the lively Kadali.

Talk after watching

  • Aditya's parents want one path and he wants another in London. How do you negotiate that without cutting people off?
  • Friends talk casually about sex and contraception. How does your family prefer to handle those conversations?
