Official is M. We say 12+ because the action is splashy CGI more than sustained bloody combat

Our take

Green Lantern mixes fighter-pilot danger with battles against a threatening force in space. Warriors die, cities are hit, and the creature imagery may scare younger viewers. The guide flags mild-to-moderate swearing and a brief nudity joke rather than explicit sexual content. We put it at around M and up for the action and cosmic threat.

Uplifting themes

Courage, responsibility, and facing fear get explicit speech from mentors. They compete with swagger and property damage Hal grows into duty; Carol and veteran Lanterns push him toward service. He still starts as a cocky daredevil You could mention how willpower themes differ from real aviation safety rules if kids love flight scenes

Story (may spoil tone)

For centuries, a small but powerful force of warriors called the Green Lantern Corps has sworn to keep intergalactic order. Each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of the first human ever recruited.

Dogfights, energy blasts, and fallen Lanterns pile up once Parallax attacks. A test pilot's father dies in backstory, and purple blood gets mentioned during alien first aid. The tone stays PG-13 action rather than gruesome

Pilots and heroes toss hell, damn, a-word, b-word insultss, and bull s-word when jets or rings misfire. It is regular action banter, not constant f-word barrages. Still louder than younger superhero fare

Flirt history between Hal and Carol includes a line about seeing him naked as kids. Romance stays kiss-level with light innuendo. Nothing plays like an explicit adult scene

Figurative smoking talk appears in military briefing lines. No drug plot or heavy drinking stands out

Parallax is described as feeding on fear and killing Lantern brothers on screen. Space battles and civilian panic add scale. Younger viewers may need reassurance after monster close-ups

Reckless flying and ignoring commanders are framed as Hal's flaw before he matures. Ring powers are pure fantasy, yet cockpit stunts look cool

  • Several Lanterns die serving the Corps. How does the film treat their loss compared with real military sacrifice?
