Why our age differs

Official is PG. We say 12+ because relationship scheming and sexual humor run hotter than a soft PG rom-com

Our take

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days follows two people secretly using a relationship to win separate work bets. Kissing, sex talk, and implied overnight stays are more prominent than anything shown. The guide also flags moderate swearing, dating-night drinking, and one body-image joke. We put it at around PG and up for the sexual banter and the way both leads manipulate each other.

Uplifting themes

Honesty wins in the final act after layers of manipulation. Until then, deceit is the joke Leads grow into respect; side friends are often shallow fashion stereotypes Mostly entertainment, though you can discuss media jobs and advertising ethics lightly

Story (may spoil tone)

It's the battle of wills, as Andie needs to prove she can dump a guy in 10 days, whereas Ben needs to prove he can win a girl in 10 days. Now, the clock is ticking—and the wildly entertaining comedy smash is off and running in this irresistible tale of sex, lies and outrageous romantic fireworks!

  • Andie and Ben manipulate each other for articles and ads. Where is the line between funny competition and meanness?
  • The movie treats love like a wager. What healthy signs would you want in a real relationship?
