What we flagged
View all categoriesOur take
Idle Hands turns a possessed hand into a string of gruesome deaths played for dark laughs. Stabbings, decapitation gags, frequent marijuana use, sex jokes, and strong swearing give the film its deliberately tasteless tone. We put it at around 16 and up for the gore, drug use, and crude humour.
Uplifting themes
Friendship barely survives; morality is mostly shrugged off
Story (may spoil tone)
Anton is a cheerful but exceedingly non-ambitious 17-year-old stoner who lives to stay buzzed, watch TV, and moon over Molly, the beautiful girl who lives next door. However, it turns out that the old cliché about idle hands being the devil's playground has a kernel of truth after all.

Talk after watching
- The film laughs at slasher tropes while showing kills. When does parody still normalize violence?
- Anton ignores responsibility until bodies pile up. How do you read boredom as a horror motive?
