Sharon is a hairdresser with a drinking problem who throws herself into helping a father and his very sick daughter. The community effort is heartening, but the hospital scenes, needles and fear of losing a child can be hard to sit through. We would start around 10, with a parent close by for the sad parts.
Uplifting themes
Neighbours, strangers, and local businesses pitch in to help one family, showing how generosity and persistence can change an outcome. Faith and community support are treated warmly Sharon is flawed, stubborn, and kind, and she keeps showing up for a family she barely knows. The father also moves from guarded grief to accepting help It is based on a real 1994 rescue and gives a simple look at how organ transplant waiting lists and community fundraising work. A good starting point for talking about donation
Story (may spoil tone)
Inspired by the incredible true story of a hairdresser who single-handedly rallies an entire community to help a widowed father save the life of his critically ill young daughter.
