Official is MA 15+. We say 16+ because suicide bombing, torture tension, and close-up shootings are sustained and disturbing

Our take

An agent hunts a would-be bomber while the film also follows the young man drawn toward the attack. Cleanskin includes gunfights, explosions, strong language and sexual content. Its terrorism storyline is grim rather than a simple chase. We would wait until 16.

Uplifting themes

The story shows catastrophic harm from extremism, though it offers little comfort afterward. It works better as a warning than as uplift Ewan is competent but morally gray as pressure mounts. Few role models emerge intact by the end, which fits the grim subject

Story (may spoil tone)

While working undercover as a bodyguard to arms dealer Harry, former-soldier-turned-secret-service-agent Ewan survives a bloody shootout with a member of an Islamic terrorist cell who steals Harry's briefcase full of Semtex explosives and escapes. Ewan's spymasters task Ewan with hunting down the cell members and retrieving the briefcase.

  • Ash is groomed toward violence by people who offer belonging. What real-world signs might show someone is being radicalized?
  • Ewan uses harsh methods to stop attacks. Do the ends justify his means in this story?
