Why our age differs

Official is MA15+. We say 15+ because of constant strong language, gun threats, and adult con-and-sex themes throughout

Our take

A seasoned con artist teaches a newcomer how to work a crowd, and attraction makes it harder for either of them to know whom to trust. Focus makes the scams look glamorous; drinking, sexual tension, swearing and gun threats are part of that world. We would watch from MA 15+.

Uplifting themes

The story is about trusting your gut in love and crime, not about honesty. Any lesson is muddy at best, which fits the antihero tone Lead con artists lie for a living and look cool doing it. Jess shows some independence, but nobody is a steady moral anchor

Story (may spoil tone)

Nicky, an accomplished con artist, gets romantically involved with his disciple Jess but later ends their relationship. Years later, she returns as a femme fatale to spoil his plans.

Champagne, vodka martinis, beer, and wine flow through casinos, parties, and hotel rooms, and characters get visibly drunk while plotting scams. Drinking is tied to the glamour of the grift

Fixed football bets and casino glamour are central to the cons Eddie runs. The film treats gambling as part of the thrill, not a lesson in odds

  • Nick says he can spot a lie instantly. What clues actually tell you someone is trustworthy?
  • The film makes stealing look stylish. What real-world harm do those scams cause?
