Fired Up!

Parents guide · ClearAge age 15+ · Official M

Movie 2009 90 min Comedy Checked by Dan S · 21 Oct 2026
Official Rating M ClearAge 15+

Why our age differs

Official is M. We say 15+ because nonstop crude language and nudity gags feel closer to older-teen comedy than a typical M rating suggests

Our take

Two high-school boys join a cheer camp for reasons that have little to do with cheerleading. Fired Up! is packed with sex jokes, crude names, party talk and swearing. We would start at M.

Uplifting themes

Hard work in cheerleading gets respect by the finale, and friendship beats pure hookup schemes. Growth is thin but present Female athletes show discipline while male leads start selfish. Coaches mix pep talks with inappropriate jokes

Story (may spoil tone)

Popular high schoolers and best friends Shawn and Nick decide to ditch football camp for cheerleader camp. For the girls and for the glory.

Lying to attend camp and sneaking into girls' spaces are played as clever. The film eventually wags a finger, but stunts look fun first

Talk after watching

  • Nick and Shawn start as users and slowly respect the cheerleaders' skill. What changed their attitude, and what still feels gross?
  • The camp mixes athletic discipline with raunchy jokes. How would you handle a coach who lets crude humor slide?
