Why our age differs

Official is US R. We say 17+ because drawn-out explicit sex and nudity are the center of the film, not a brief adult beat

Our take

Connie and Oliver's affair is the heart of Lady Chatterley's Lover, and the film shows their physical relationship plainly. There are frequent sex scenes and nudity alongside questions about marriage and class. We would keep it for 17 and up.

Uplifting themes

Mutual consent and tenderness appear inside the affair, and Connie pushes back on being treated as property. The novel's critique of class still peeks through Connie grows assertive about her body and choices, while Clifford often coldly controls. Oliver mixes kindness with rough edges

Story (may spoil tone)

After a crippling injury leaves her husband impotent, Lady Chatterly is torn between her love for her husband and her physical desires. With her husband's consent, she seeks out other means of fulfilling her needs.

Talk after watching

  • Connie and Clifford disagree about whether an affair could save their marriage. How do you talk about loyalty when a relationship changes after injury?
  • Mellors and Connie cross class lines that everyone notices. Who gets judged more harshly in your world when couples break unwritten rules?
