Why our age differs

Official is MA15+. We say 16+ because teens die in graphic kills and the horror stays relentless for most of the runtime

Our take

The teenagers are trying to survive a curse, and the killings are bloody enough to make this a rough night even for horror fans. There is constant swearing and some sexual content between teens. We would wait until 16, especially if a bread-slicer death or a friend turning on the group is likely to linger.

Uplifting themes

Loyalty between friends and honesty about who you love cut through the curse talk. Chosen family matters more than the town's labels Deena and her circle keep showing up for each other when adults fail them. Courage here is messy, scared, and still shared

Story (may spoil tone)

After a series of brutal slayings, a teen and her friends take on an evil force that's plagued their notorious town for centuries.

Talk after watching

  • The kids keep secrets from adults while danger grows. When is it smarter to tell a parent than to handle it alone?
  • Shadyside kids feel written off by the richer town next door. How does being labeled shape how someone fights back?
