Why our age differs

Official is US R. We say 15+ because the horror is bloody and child-targeted, yet the craft stays closer to a hard TV thriller than extreme adult horror

Our take

The necklace brings a vengeful presence into a home where two daughters are already caught between their parents. The threats turn bloody, and the child-targeted scares are the reason we would wait until US R.

Uplifting themes

Trying to repair a broken home is the human hook. The movie spends more energy on scares than on healthy repair Parents scramble to protect the girls once the danger is clear. Frank's earlier temper undercuts any easy hero read

Story (may spoil tone)

After separating due to his unpredictable alcohol infused temper, Frank try to win his wife Laura back by giving her a beautiful antique necklace he finds in an old 1938 evidence bag at the station. Unfortunately, the necklace is a conduit for the tormented soul of an evil boy from long ago, and Laura and her daughters find themselves in terrible danger from a little boy who no longer exists.

Blood-soaked memories, a slit throat, and repeated kill threats drive the haunting. The violence is nasty for a domestic ghost story, even when some of it is described

The f-word appears in a heated outburst, with the s-word, hell, and damn through the household shouting. Swearing spikes when fear takes over

Frank's drinking temper starts the family fracture, and beer and smoking get casual mentions. Alcohol is the human problem before the necklace takes over

An evil child spirit, possession beats, and a house that will not stay safe keep the dread high. Jump scares and supernatural cruelty are the point of the watch

A past death is described as a murder-suicide. The film does not walk through a method, but the idea hangs over the necklace's history

Laura's daughters are squarely in the spirit's sights, including moments that terrify Ellie. Kids are not side characters; they are part of the threat

Blood covering people, a bloody knife, and throat-slitting detail give the haunting a physical edge. Weapons and wounds matter here

Rage, fear, and the sense that someone in the house is not themselves blur into the possession plot. Family conflict and supernatural takeover overlap

Old family murders and a killed child in the necklace's past cast a grief shadow. Loss is the fuel for the curse more than a soft mourning story

Talk after watching

  • Frank uses a gift to fix harm caused by his temper. Can a present repair trust after alcohol-fueled fights?
  • How would you help kids feel safe if adults in the house keep yelling through a crisis?
