Movie 2000 110 min Thriller, Crime, Drama Checked by Dan S · 21 Oct 2026
Official Rating M ClearAge 16+

Why our age differs

Official is M. We say 16+ because the case is built on the rape and murder of young girls, which sits heavier than a typical moderate crime drama

Our take

Most of the film is an interrogation, but the case concerns the rape and murder of young girls. Adult sexual material and some nudity surface as the detectives pull apart a marriage. We would keep it at 16 for the subject, even though much of the action is people talking.

Uplifting themes

Truth and accountability matter under institutional power. The film is bleak, so any moral is hard-edged Detectives chasing justice for murdered children show persistence. Charm and status on the other side of the table are not treated as virtues

Story (may spoil tone)

A lawyer is asked to come to the police station to clear up a few loose ends in his witness report of a foul murder. "This will only take ten minutes", they say, but it turns out to be one loose end after another, and the ten minutes he is away from his speech become longer and longer.

Guilt, denial, and crumbling composure under interrogation are constant. It is a study of pressure more than a therapy story

  • How should adults talk about crime stories that involve harm to children without turning it into gore detail?
  • What makes an interrogation feel fair versus like a power game?
