Why our age differs

Official is US R. We say 15+ because the drug use and swearing are heavy, while graphic sex stays limited to talk and suggestion

Our take

Miles Davis's music runs through a story of addiction, arguments and guns. Strong language is frequent, and a suicide threat adds another hard moment. We would wait until US R, especially for a teen who knows him only through the music.

Uplifting themes

Music as lifeline and the chance to create again still matter. The film never pretends addiction is glamorous without cost Miles is brilliant and often cruel. Allies who try to help him show more patience than he returns A stylised doorway into Miles Davis's music and 1970s jazz-rock era. Better as a vibe piece than a straight timeline lesson

Story (may spoil tone)

  • Miles lashes out when he feels cornered. What healthier ways can pressure and fame be handled?
