Our take

Premonition is a sombre supernatural thriller built around grief, confusion, and a marriage under strain. A car crash and its aftermath sit at the centre, with blood and body detail that are brief but upsetting. Depression, drinking, and uneasy domestic scenes add weight, while language stays mostly mild. We land at 13 and up because the dread and loss land hard even when the gore stays limited

Uplifting themes

Holding a family together through fear and confusion still matters. The film values care and honesty even when the answers stay murky A few allies try to steady the household and listen when the days stop making sense. Others make selfish choices under the same pressure

Story (may spoil tone)

A depressed housewife who learns her husband was killed in a car accident the day previously awakens the next morning to find him alive and well at home, and then awakens the day after to a world in which he is still dead.

Crash injuries and blood show up in short, clear shots that underline how sudden the accident feels. Detail is enough to upset without lingering on gore for long

Losing a spouse and watching children absorb that loss drive the whole film. Mourning is not a side note; it is the engine

Talk after watching

  • The story jumps between days that do not line up. How would you support someone who feels their life no longer makes sense?
  • Grief and fear push the family into sharp arguments. What helps when adults are scared and kids can feel it?
