Our take

Dragon Wars: D-War mixes Korean legend with big CGI monsters tearing through Los Angeles. Creature attacks, guns, military firepower, and mild swearing arrive while two linked souls try to survive the rampage. Romance stays soft, and the scares come from reptiles and city chaos more than torture. We land at 13 and up because sustained monster mayhem and destruction sit at a solid mature-teen floor

Uplifting themes

Courage and sticking with someone across impossible odds still matter under the rubble. The film leans spectacle first, heart second Leads try to protect each other and warn others even when nobody believes the legend. Supporting adults often scramble late to help

Story (may spoil tone)

Ethan learns he carries the spirit of a warrior who battled dragons in 16th-century Korea -- and one day he'll find a tattooed girl carrying the spirit of that warrior's beloved. Years later, he meets Sarah and dragons soon descend on Los Angeles seeking out the two souls of the ancient lovers.

  • A legend from another century suddenly hits a modern city. What would you want leaders to explain first in a panic?
  • Destiny pulls two people together across time. How much of your life do you think is choice, and how much feels written?
