Our take

This New Zealand-shot comedy mixes Pacific Island humour with wrestling training and street-level scrapes. Strong language is frequent, mostly the f-word and the s-word. Beer, weed talk, and fistfights sit in a colourful, comic frame. We land at 13 and up because the swearing is thick even when the punches play for laughs

Uplifting themes

Community, courage, and claiming your roots matter more than swagger. The ending favours belonging over revenge for its own sake Mentors and neighbours push Fritz to train and stand tall. The gang leaders are foils, not aspirational

Story (may spoil tone)

‘The Legend of Baron To’a’ tells the story of Fritz, a Tongan entrepreneur who returns to his old neighbourhood and inadvertently causes the theft of his late father’s valued pro wrestling title belt by some ruthless gangsters led by ‘man-mountain’ Tahu. When negotiation and diplomacy fail to get it back, he is forced to embrace his father’s legacy to reclaim the title.

Beer offers and weed talk crop up in the neighbourhood while Fritz tries to settle home. Use stays casual background colour, not a training montage on getting high

A few bloody noses and hard impacts show after wrestling-style fights. Injury detail stays light beside the comedy, with no torture or graphic wound study

Fritz's late father and the stolen championship belt keep grief in the room from the first act. Honouring that legacy is half the reason he steps into the ring

Talk after watching

  • Fritz has to step into his father's wrestling legacy. What family traditions feel heavy to carry, and which ones feel like a gift?
  • Talk fails with the gang before fists come out. When is standing up worth the risk?
