Why our age differs

Official is US PG. We say 10+ because adult sex jokes, affair talk, and steady wine culture make it a better fit for older kids than a soft US PG

Our take

Almost Family is a light Netflix comedy about Brazilian and Argentine relatives competing through meals, wine tastings, and holiday mishaps. You will hear hell, damn, the s-word, and a-word in the English subs, plus jokes about sex and a suspected affair. Social drinking is frequent at dinners. We land at 10 and up because the adult banter and wine culture sit above a pure kids comedy

Uplifting themes

Family pride softens into acceptance once both sides stop competing. The ending favors connection over winning the holiday Adults behave childish for long stretches, then own their mistakes. The younger couple models more patience than the parents do

Story (may spoil tone)

A Brazilian father finds a worthy opponent when he meets his daughter's Argentine in-laws, and a trip to Bariloche becomes the stage for a fun international rivalry.

Talk after watching

  • Two families turn a holiday into a rivalry. How do you welcome in-laws without keeping score?
  • Pride about food, wine, and culture sparks most of the fights. When is national pride fun, and when does it shut people out?
