Our take

Boxer (Bokser) mixes bloody ring punishment with exile pressure, strong swearing, and adult relationship talk. Fights leave the canvas marked with blood, vodka and cigarettes show up in the escape years, and funerals punctuate the journey. Sexual bragging and bedroom innuendo appear in dialogue. The bloody fights and frequent f-words make this better suited to older teens.

Uplifting themes

Partnership, grit, and working together under pressure get honest play. Winning alone is never treated as the only measure of a life well lived The wife’s steadfast support and moments of teamwork stand out. The fighter’s pride and temper often undercut the example

Story (may spoil tone)

With only his wife by his side, a promising young boxer flees communist Poland to chase his dream of becoming the greatest fighter in history.

Funerals for people from the boxing world interrupt the climb. Loss reminds the couple what the sport and exile have already taken

Talk after watching

  • The couple leave home for a shot at greatness. What would you risk for a dream, and what would you refuse to leave behind?
  • Boxing glory comes with injury and ego. How do you tell ambition from stubbornness that hurts the people who love you?
