Our take

Barbie in the Nutcracker is a soft CGI fairy tale with ballet, friendship, and a clear good-versus-evil plot. The Mouse King and his army make a few chasey, shouty scenes that can startle preschoolers. Romance stays at a spell-breaking kiss, and there is no swearing worth noting. We land at 6 and up because the ballet adventure stays gentle, with only mild fairy-tale scares for sensitive kids
