Why our age differs

Official is US R. We say 14+ because lonely-adult themes and mild tension matter more than hard scare content

Our take

Nobody Knows I'm Here is a slow, melancholy Chilean drama about Memo, a shy adult living on a remote sheep farm with a secret gift for singing. The mood is lonely and reflective more than thrilling, with farm life, old wounds, and the awkward chance of being heard. Strong language spikes when people get angry, mostly the f-word and the s-word. Blood comes up in farm talk, and one line about young girls' sexual fantasies may land oddly. We land at 14 and up because the adult loneliness, swearing, and sexual dialogue need a mature viewer even when the pace stays gentle

Uplifting themes

Creativity and being heard still matter even when someone has hidden for years. Small kindnesses from people who listen carefully carry weight Memo's quiet persistence and moments of care from others offer something to root for. Not every visitor has pure motives

Story (may spoil tone)

Memo lives on a remote Chilean sheep farm, hiding a beautiful singing voice from the outside world. A recluse with a glittery flair, he can't stop dwelling on the past, but what will happen once someone finally listens?

Farm life includes talk about the smell of blood from animal work. There is no big fight set-piece; the harshness sits in the setting more than in attacks on people

When tempers rise you hear the f-word, the s-word, b-word, and bull s-word. Swearing is not constant for the whole runtime, but the angry stretches are blunt

Dialogue includes an odd line about young girls' first sexual fantasies, plus later kiss talk. The film is not built around sex scenes, though that fantasy line may make parents sit up

Someone suggests drinking a beer and taking a walk during a quieter stretch. Alcohol stays incidental to the farm setting and never drives the story

Bullying comes up in conversation as something people have lived with. It is acknowledged more than staged as a long schoolyard arc

Isolation, shame, and old emotional wounds sit at the centre of Memo's days. The film stays with loneliness and the fear of being seen for a long time

Talk after watching

  • Memo hides a talent that could change his life. When have you held something back because you were afraid of being seen?
  • People from the city treat his gift like a product. How do you tell support from someone who only wants a share of the spotlight?
