Why our age differs

Official is US R. We say 16+ because the roast humour is built on strong language and put-downs, even without graphic violence

Our take

Kill Tony: Once Upon a Time in Texas is a filmed stand-up roast night, not a story movie. Expect wall-to-wall coarse jokes, sexual punchlines, and comics being mocked for looks, talent, and identity in front of a loud crowd. There is little plot and almost no traditional scares or gore. We land at 16 and up because the comedy runs on aggressive language and humiliation as entertainment

Uplifting themes

A faint nod to guts on stage peeks through the mockery and booing. Kindness is simply not what this roast night is selling Aspiring comics show nerve by taking the mic under fire from famous guests. Mentorship arrives mostly as public put-downs from the panel

Story (may spoil tone)

One minute. One mic. No mercy. Tony Hinchcliffe and a panel of famous guests put up-and-coming comedians to the test at a relentless Austin showcase.

The panel's job is to roast performers for appearance, skill, and identity in front of a cheering room. Humiliation is the point of the format parents will notice

Talk after watching

  • Roasts treat embarrassment as the joke. Where is the line between teasing a performer who signed up and being needlessly cruel?
  • Comics chase one minute of stage time under a hostile panel. How would you handle public failure without turning mean yourself?
