Our take
A G animated musical reboot with Rihanna as Smurfette. The rating cites action, language and rude humor. Wizards chase Smurfs through portals, and Gargamel scenes may feel intense for toddlers. Smurf-substituted swear words and slapstick falls appear, plus low-level cartoon violence. Good for most school-age kids; co-watch with sensitive under-7s.
Uplifting themes
Identity, teamwork and embracing uniqueness drive Smurfette's journey Smurfette and her friends back each other against magical bullies
