Our take

A short dystopian crime thriller about ex-cons linked by explosive heart implants. Opening gunfire, on-screen heart detonations and some CGI blood during a robbery scene. Strong tension and criminal threats run throughout; the 84-minute runtime keeps the pace brisk. Best for about 15 and up.

Uplifting themes

The story questions punishment, rehabilitation and whether control can stand in for real accountability The white-collar lead tries to survive without taking on his partner's worst impulses, though both are flawed

Story (may spoil tone)

In a dystopian future where the parole system has been replaced with R.A.P.P. - the Recidivism Accountability Partnership Program - a white collar ex-con must take drastic measures to ensure his survival when he's paired with a sociopathic gangster with terminal cancer. One wrong move by either of them could mean the summary execution of them both, via the explosive charges surgically implanted in their hearts as a condition of their release.
