Our take

Disturbing content, grisly images, sexuality, drug use, graphic nudity and language earn this film an MA 15+. Medical student Hana grinds cadaver bones into a DIY diet pill, then binges while a vengeful ghost pushes her deeper into starvation and self-loathing. Close-up gore, full-frontal nudity and eating-disorder themes may strongly unsettle vulnerable viewers. Explicit adult horror about fatphobia and diet culture.

Uplifting themes

Diet-culture satire is present, but the story ends far more punishing than uplifting Older viewers may discuss media pressure on women's bodies, though the R-rated presentation is unsuitable for classroom use

Story (may spoil tone)

After succumbing to an obscure weight-loss craze involving the eating of human ashes, lovelorn medical student Hana finds herself haunted by the ghost of the person she's eating.

Talk after watching

  • How does the film use a weight-loss fad to comment on Ozempic-era pressure to be thin, and does the satire land or just shock?
  • Hana steals bones from a cadaver nicknamed Big Bertha — where is the line between horror metaphor and disrespect toward bodies?
