Our take
A grounded retelling of Odysseus coming home to Ithaca. Spear and sword violence, bloody injuries and strong language including the f-word. Funeral and long-absence grief run through the story. Not a sanitized school-myth version. Best for older teens studying classics or historical drama.
Uplifting themes
Loyalty, patience and restoring a kingdom after long absence stay central Penelope and Telemachus stay resilient through Odysseus's long absence
Story (may spoil tone)
After twenty years away, Odysseus washes up on the shores of Ithaca, haggard and unrecognizable. The king has finally returned home, but much has changed in his kingdom since he left to fight in the Trojan war.
