Our take

Low-budget cyberpunk about the ONYX Program, which straps smart watches on convicts and forces them into lethal combat for freedom. It carries no official MA 15+.S. rating. Frequent graphic shootings, dystopian cruelty and strong profanity are flagged throughout, and critics widely panned the confusing storytelling and heavy AI-generated visuals. Mature-only action sci-fi with a high body count and little clarity for younger viewers.

Uplifting themes

Rebelling against a corrupt corporation is the stated theme, but the story mostly delivers action chaos Hero Elera fights the system, yet the cast largely resolves problems through violence

Story (may spoil tone)

North America has been divided into four main quadrants. A power-hungry corporation has taken over the conventional prison system and made criminals the new law enforcers. The owner of that corporation, nanoscientist Eion Prescott, created a nano-virus called Onyx. Which is distributed through deadly watches to criminals. First, infecting them. Then, forcing them into eliminating each other for freedom. Who can topple the corporation's entire system from within?

  • A corporation controls people through technology on their wrists. What real-world privacy questions does that raise?
