Our take

Alpha is a Hindi YRF Spy Universe action thriller about twin assassins raised in a covert super-soldier program. India rates it US NR/A 16+. Close-quarters martial arts, tactical gunfights, parkour chases, a child-abduction backstory and a revenge-driven plot all feature. Best for older teens who can handle spy action, not for younger kids.

Uplifting themes

Sisterhood and service to country still show through amid the revenge-driven violence The lead spies show courage and loyalty, though their methods are lethal

Story (may spoil tone)

When Sita, a highly trained assassin raised in isolation as a super-soldier by a rogue commander, discovers the dark truth about her family and her stolen childhood, she teams up with her long lost sister to take down her creator and his illicit military program.

  • The film pairs sisterhood with lethal spy training. When does loyalty to family conflict with loyalty to a mission?
