Thando has rotten luck in love, then her best friend returns engaged. Banter about relationships, language stronger than mild, social drinking that can tip into pass-outs, and jealousy all show up. Kissing and undressing moments appear, but there is no graphic sex scene. The friendship-and-romance vibe stays lighthearted. Teens who like that mix are the natural audience.
Uplifting themes
The story keeps asking whether chasing the wrong partner helps anyone, and whether best friends should tell the truth before a wedding locks things in. The advice stays light, in classic rom-com style Charles has to own that he has been a coward about loving his messy best friend, and Thando has to stop pretending jealousy is beside the point. Their growth is awkward and late, which fits the genre
