Our take

This is a gloomy period Batman with old gods and ugly creatures, not a kids adventure. People are killed. A diseased corpse is on screen. Characters talk about demons and a suicide. You will hear damn, hell, and a b-word phrase. Watch with a parent at 15. Easy to scare teens may dislike the monster looks

Allies still show up when an old evil returns to the city Batman takes the threat on so others do not have to face it alone

Story (may spoil tone)

Explorer Bruce Wayne accidentally unleashes an ancient evil, and returns to Gotham after being away for two decades. There, Batman battles Lovecraftian supernatural forces and encounters allies and enemies such as Green Arrow, Ra's al Ghul, Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Two-Face and James Gordon.
