Why our age differs

Official is M. We say M because a clear sex scene and sustained monster peril make this a harder watch than lighter MCU entries at the same letter

Our take

Eternals is a sprawling MCU film about immortal aliens who have secretly guided humanity and must face monstrous Deviants again. Creature battles and talk of killing run through it, and one relationship includes a discreet sex scene uncommon for Marvel. Same-sex affection appears warmly on screen, and grief over fallen friends weighs on the group. We put it at M with a parent because the intimacy and darker mythic stakes sit above a casual tween watch

Uplifting themes

Protecting ordinary people, questioning blind duty, and honouring different kinds of love sit at the centre. The film values empathy across cultures and centuries Several Eternals model courage, care for humans, and loyalty to found family. Others make colder choices, which opens a useful talk about whose lead to follow

Story (may spoil tone)

The Eternals are a team of ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. When an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows, they are forced to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants.

Expect strong language in lighter moments among the immortals, including Wine, beer, and a joke about drunk teleporting. Drinking stays casual background colour, never the point of a scene

Toothy Deviant monsters, sudden ambushes, and a looming planetary disaster keep dread in play. The creature designs may spook kids who usually breeze through MCU films

Energy blasts, blades, and monster attacks leave fallen bodies in their wake. Wounds are not lingered on, but death is spoken about often enough to register

The team mourns friends lost to Deviants and to betrayal inside their own circle. Sadness threads through the reunion without becoming the only note. It sits under the story. There is no long funeral stretch

Talk after watching

  • The team disagrees about whether protecting humans means following orders without question. When is it right to break a rule you once trusted?
  • Several characters carry centuries of love and loss. Which relationship felt most real to you, and why?
