Our take

Justice League: Warworld drops Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the others onto a planet of nonstop gladiator fighting. They have to become a real team or die in the arena. Creature battles, blades, and forced combat run for most of the runtime, with an adult edge and some swearing. A whiskey line is about as much drinking as you get. We put this at MA 15+, with a parent, because the gladiator cruelty is sustained, even in animation.

Uplifting themes

Unity is the way off Warworld: the League has to stop being a loose club and actually protect one another. Resistance against a system that treats people as meat is the point. The message is simple and earned in the fights Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman push the others to fight as a unit instead of as celebrities. They still kill in the arena to survive, so the models are complicated. Talk afterwards about what “we had no choice” can hide

Story (may spoil tone)

Until now, the Justice League has been a loose association of superpowered individuals. But when they are swept away to Warworld, a place of unending brutal gladiatorial combat, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the others must somehow unite to form an unbeatable resistance able to lead an entire planet to freedom.

Warworld is built as unending arena combat: gladiators, creatures, and heroes forced to hurt each other to survive. Fights are frequent, brutal, and the whole plot. Animation does not make the slavery-and-combat setup feel gentle

Coarse talk, including hell and stronger bursts, fits the R-leaning gladiator tone. It is regular in the arena banter. Not every line is a swear, but the voice is adult

A whiskey mention sits in the grim atmosphere. Nobody is shown on a binge. It is flavour, not a plot about drinking. Worth remembering when you pick a night for it

Roaring creatures, a planet that only exists to kill, and the fear of being trapped as sport keep a harsh mood. It is closer to a war pit than a haunted house. Younger teens may find the hopeless arena setting heavy

Blades, spears, and monster attacks do visible harm in the games. Deaths are part of the spectacle the villains want. Blood is present without turning into a gore showcase

Talk after watching

  • The League only becomes a team when they are forced to fight together. What does that say about trust built under pressure?
  • Gladiator worlds treat killing as sport. How did the film make you feel about violence as entertainment?
