Scream is the 2022 revival of the series, with a new group of teens hunted in Woodsboro. Ghostface attacks are frequent, bloody, and shown up close, while strong language and party drinking add to the adult content. The film jokes about its own slasher rules, but the danger and injuries still feel intense. We put it at MA 15+ and up for older teens who already handle graphic horror.
Uplifting themes
Underneath the horror there is a thread about two sisters protecting each other and friends standing firm under threat. Loyalty and courage show up, though the film is far more interested in the scares A few characters look out for each other and show real nerve when cornered, especially the sisters at the centre. Plenty of others panic or turn selfish, so the models are decidedly mixed
Story (may spoil tone)
Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.

As a slasher this runs on sustained knife attacks, stabbings, and several killings, with Ghostface striking again and again. The fights are desperate and bloody, and attacks on characters you have come to know hit hard

Strong language is heavy and frequent, with the f-word used constantly and the s-word close behind. There is plenty of angry, aggressive swearing woven through arguments and attacks, so it never settles down

Teenagers drink at a house party and there is talk of grabbing more beer, plus a passing mention of smoking weed. It is casual social use, and it is clearly part of the teen world here

The scares are relentless, built on stalking, sudden attacks, jump scares, and a masked killer who could be anyone. The dread sits over the whole film, and the home-invasion set-pieces are genuinely intense

Close views of knife wounds, heavy blood, and multiple bodies make the attacks graphic. The camera lingers on injuries rather than cutting away quickly
