Our take

Annabelle: Creation places a group of girls in a house with a possessed doll and a threatening demonic presence. Jump scares, possession, and sustained danger to children are the core concerns; some harm is shown on screen. Language is mild compared with the fear. We put it at MA 15+ and up for teens already comfortable with strong supernatural horror.

Uplifting themes

The girls try to look after one another when fear isolates them. Friendship and faith flicker inside the terror. Kindness is present without softening the horror A few children show courage and care for friends under impossible pressure. Adults often fail to protect them in time. Role models are limited inside a scare machine

Story (may spoil tone)

Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a doll maker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the doll maker's possessed creation—Annabelle.

The demon hurts children, kills an adult, and turns household objects into weapons of fear. Attacks are sudden and personal. Impact is strong for a haunted-house story without becoming a gore parade

A staring doll, demonic voices, possession, and repeated jump scares keep the house frightening. The intensity is sustained rather than confined to a few moments

Orphaned girls, including Janice, are hunted and hurt inside the farmhouse. Children are the demon's main targets, and their peril lasts through the film

Injury and a deadly attack land with enough detail to sting, and scare makeup gets grotesque. Full dismemberment is not the focus. Weapons are household and supernatural more than military

Parents who lost a little girl carry that mourning into the house they open to orphans. Grief shapes why the doll matters. Loss is quieter than the jump scares, yet it sits under the plot
