The Conjuring 2 is a sustained supernatural horror story about a mother and four children in a haunted London home. A young girl becomes the focus of frightening events, including levitation and a harsh voice, while a nun figure delivers repeated shocks. The children are visibly afraid and in danger. We put it at MA 15+ and up for viewers who already handle intense jump-scare horror.
Uplifting themes
A mum keeps showing up for her kids, and a married couple walk into danger to help strangers. Faith, teamwork, and refusing to abandon a frightened child are held up as the way through. The scares are still the main event Ed and Lorraine are steady with each other and gentle with the children, even when they are scared. Peggy is overwhelmed and still fiercely protective. Their religious certainty is part of who they are, and families can weigh that layer
Story (may spoil tone)

People are thrown, slammed, and clutched by something unseen, and an investigator is badly hurt in the last stretch. A child’s body is used as a weapon against her own family. The hits are sudden more than gory

Mild swearing appears in panic, along with religious oaths when the house erupts. It is not a sweary film. The shocks do more work than the words

A nun figure, an old man, and repeated night-time disturbances deliver jump scares across the film. Viewers sensitive to sudden shocks may find the long runtime exhausting

Four children live through the haunting, and one girl is repeatedly spoken through, lifted, and put in danger. Their mother cannot make the house feel safe

Neighbours and press treat the family as a spectacle, and the children feel marked at school and on the street. It piles shame on a mum already at the edge. Kindness from a few adults stands out because of that

There is some blood when an adult is injured, and faces twist in possession. You do not get lingering wound close-ups. The fright is in the figures and the sound, not in gore

The investigators record voices and try to communicate with the presence in the house. Younger teens may want to imitate those rituals, so it helps to frame them as part of a horror story

Skeptics call the girl a faker, while the family is exhausted, jumpy, and short with each other from lack of sleep. Strain looks like frayed nerves more than a clinical portrait. It may echo for anyone who has lived with fear at home

A dead man’s voice sits in the house, and the investigators carry their own close calls and farewells. Loss is a flavour of the haunting. It is not a grief drama, but death is named often

Talk after watching
- The children are the ones living in the house. How did it feel to watch kids that age in those rooms?
- The Warrens treat faith as a tool against fear. What did your teen make of that, whether or not you share the belief?
