Our take

This sixth Insidious horror entry centres on a single mother who can pull spirits from the Further into our world, drawing demon hunters toward her daughter. M jump scares, dental-office body horror and franchise demon lore are the main concerns. Child endangerment and inherited trauma sit under the scares. Best for teens who already handle supernatural horror, not younger kids who startle easily.

Uplifting themes

The film's second half shifts toward empowerment, redemption and forgiveness after the early scares Gemma fights to protect her daughter, with help from Elise Rainier. Amelia Eve's performance is praised as a desperate but determined parent

Story (may spoil tone)

Gemma, a young mother raising her daughter in the house she grew up in, discovers she can travel into The Further, where she possesses an ability to bring what lives there back to the real world.
