Official is MA 15+. We say 16+ because the accident deaths linger on torn bodies and the survivors talk about killing to stay alive

Our take

Final Destination 5 starts with a vision of a bridge collapsing and then follows survivors through elaborate fatal accidents. Crushing and piercing injuries are shown in detail; gore is the main draw. The f-word appears during panic, while dating jokes sit in the background. We put it at 16 and up for viewers who can handle repeated graphic deaths.

Story (may spoil tone)

Death is just as omnipresent as ever, and is unleashed after one man’s premonition saves a group of coworkers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death’s sinister agenda.

A long bridge collapse kills coworkers in a rush of falling cars and bodies. Later accidents keep picking people off, a gun comes out, and survivors argue about killing someone else to stay alive

The f-word hits in panic and arguments, with plenty of the s-word, hell, damn, and a-word talk. It runs through the office and the later chases, so younger ears will catch it often

Office banter includes sleeping-around jokes and a gag about naked team-building. Couples talk about a romantic dinner. Nothing like a full sex scene takes over the story

Someone sings about being wasted, and ordinary drinks sit in the background of work nights out. Nobody is dealing or glamorising a habit. The horror plot pushes the glasses aside quickly

After the bridge disaster, ordinary spaces become traps. The unseen threat and sudden accidents keep tension high between deaths

Coworkers sit through a memorial and even joke about bereavement pay while they are still in shock. Loss hangs over the group between accidents. The jokes do not make those funerals feel gentle

Talk after watching

  • The survivors keep trying to outthink fate. When has a close call made your family extra careful, and when does that fear take over?
  • Someone argues that taking another life might buy more time. How do you talk about panic leading people to ugly bargains?
