Paddington is a warm family adventure about a bear looking for a home in London. Slapstick messes and gentle humour lead toward a more frightening hunt by someone who wants to put him in a museum. There are loud chases and bangs, but little injury; the strongest language is a brief 'bloody'. We put it at around 8 and up, with a parent nearby for sensitive animal lovers.
Uplifting themes
Taking in a stranger and treating him as family is the moral the film keeps repeating. Saying sorry and trying again after a mess matters too. It is a gentler welcome story than most chase comedies Mrs Brown pushes to help when others hesitate, and Paddington stays polite even when London is rude. The kids learn to stand up for him. The hunter is the warning, not the model London landmarks, letters home, and a simple immigration welcome can open a chat. It is still a marmalade comedy. Use it as a springboard, not a geography lesson
Story (may spoil tone)
A young Peruvian bear travels to London in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone at Paddington Station, he meets the kindly Brown family, who offer him a temporary haven.

Talk after watching
- The Browns take in someone who is lost and different. What does a welcome look like in your house?
- The hunter treats a living bear like a prize. How is that different from looking after animals?
