A gambler leaves prison and falls foul of a powerful underworld boss. Revolver piles up threats, hitmen and gunfire in a deliberately tangled story. Strong swearing, some nudity, drinking and a cocaine-theft plot keep it for MA 15+ and up in our house.
Uplifting themes
The film argues that ego and fear are the real enemies and that people have to face them. The message is buried in a confusing, cynical story The main character is clever but arrogant, and the people around him lie, threaten, and cheat. A couple of characters offer him honest help Dips into ideas about psychology, strategy, and how cons work, but they arrive in a twisty, confusing way that most teens will struggle to follow
Story (may spoil tone)
Hotshot gambler Jake Green is long on bravado and seriously short of common sense. Rarely is he allowed in any casino because he's a bona fide winner and, in fact, has taken so much money over the years that he's the sole client of his accountant elder brother, Billy. Invited to a private game, Jake is in fear of losing his life.
