Our take

The revenge plot brings bombs, shootings and blood, while the relationship between May and Ray includes visible sex and nudity. We would keep it at MA 15+; the adult romance is as relevant to a parent as the action.

Uplifting themes

Loyalty between damaged partners flickers through the chaos. Revenge still gets more glory than healing Ray tries to protect May even while building bombs for hire. Nobody here is a clean mentor

Story (may spoil tone)

May Munro is a woman obsessed with getting revenge on the people who murdered her parents when she was still a girl. She hires Ray Quick, a retired explosives expert, to kill her parents' killers. When Ned Trent, embittered ex-partner of Quick's, is assigned to protect one of Quick's potential victims, a deadly game of cat and mouse ensues.

Contract killings, shootouts, and big bomb set-pieces drive the revenge plot. Blasts and blood are flashy 1990s action, not subtle

Lots of strong swearing, mostly the f-word, plus the s-word and a-word in threats and nightlife talk. It keeps pace with the action

May and Ray have sex scenes with visible nudity, as well as heated kissing and lingerie talk. Their relationship is an adult part of the film, not just a suggestion

Cocktails, cigarette smoke, and a mention of someone overdosing in hospital sit in the background. Nightlife drinking is frequent but not the story engine

May's childhood includes the murder of her parents, and that memory fuels her adult revenge. A younger girl is shown in danger in the backstory

Sticky blood, gun cocking, and bomb hardware get close attention. Injury detail serves the thriller punch more than horror gore

May's whole mission starts from losing her parents in a violent past. Funeral talk and long-held mourning sit under the explosions and flirtation

  • May wants revenge for her parents. When does justice stop and a personal war begin?
  • Ray and May mix attraction with danger. How do movies glamorise risky relationships, and what would you question in real life?
