Our take

Death Before the Wedding is a fish-out-of-water rom-com where Maja brings her fiancé to meet traditional parents while their dairy farm hits trouble. Culture clash, prejudice jokes, and farm chaos keep the tone loud and silly more than dark. Mild swearing, weed smoking, and blunt sex talk show up. We land at 13 and up because racism themes and adult humour need a bit of maturity even when played for laughs

Uplifting themes

Love across difference and learning to see people as people keep winning out. Family pride softens when care and honesty finally show up at the table The young couple push for respect and honesty. Older relatives start stubborn and grow, though many jokes land on their worst instincts first

Story (may spoil tone)

When Maja brings her fiancé home, her traditional parents must overcome their cultural biases amidst a crisis at their dairy farm. Can love find a way?

Adults talk about sleeping together, withholding sex, and married intimacy. Kissing and romance land, without an explicit sex scene

Someone tosses off a mass-suicide joke in a chaotic farm moment. It is a single comic line with no method, attempt, or lasting focus on self-harm

Prejudice about race and culture drives the family clash, including open arguments about racism. The film mocks the bias, but the insults and awkwardness stay central

Funeral suits and funeral jokes pop up amid the farm chaos. Death talk is comic seasoning for the wedding panic more than a mourning story
