Why our age differs

Official is PG. We say 9+ because fantasy battles and frightening creatures are present, yet the tone stays generally suitable for younger children

Our take

Pan is a big, noisy origin story with aerial pirate ships, slave labour in a mine, and Blackbeard as a ruthless villain. Young Peter is in real danger through chases, cannon fire, and threats to kill him and his friends. Language is mild, mostly bloody hell and hell. We land at 9 and up because the pirate fights and scary creatures stay fantasy-sized, and younger kids who handle adventure can manage it

Uplifting themes

Courage, friendship, and refusing to abandon people you care about drive the climax. Belief in each other matters as much as magic Peter, Hook, and Tiger Lily team up under pressure. Blackbeard models the opposite: power without mercy

Story (may spoil tone)

Living a bleak existence at a London orphanage, 12-year-old Peter finds himself whisked away to the fantastical world of Neverland. Adventure awaits as he meets new friend James Hook and the warrior Tiger Lily. They must band together to save Neverland from the ruthless pirate Blackbeard. Along the way, the rebellious and mischievous boy discovers his true destiny, becoming the hero forever known as Peter Pan.
