Our take

Kris, a former elite sniper, lives quietly on an Australian farm with her teenage daughter until warlord The Dragon and his crew hunt them down. Rated MA 15+ for violence, bloody images and language, the film focuses on long-range kills, headshots, blood spray and a siege where a teen is in the crosshairs. A 16-year-old couple also spends time together in a tent. The action is tense, though plot logic draws mixed reactions; aimed at older teens already used to military-style gun violence.

Uplifting themes

Teamwork and a mother's drive to protect her child provide some moral anchor amid the gunplay Kris is a capable protector, though her solution to danger is calling in fellow killers

Story (may spoil tone)

When a former elite sniper is hunted down by the ruthless warlord who once held her captive, she must fight to the death to protect the daughter she has raised in hiding, on a remote Australian farm.

Talk after watching

  • Kris left her sniper past behind to raise her daughter — when is hiding from violence no longer possible?
  • The movie keeps shooters unseen for long stretches. How does that change the fear compared with close-up fights?
