Our take

While World War I empties a British choir of most of its men, Dr. Henry Guthrie steps in to keep the society singing in this 2025 US R drama. The town finds beauty in making music together amid the chaos. Strong language, wartime violence felt through talk and returning wounded, plus pub drinking and smoking, all sit in the mix. ClearAge puts it around 16 for mature older teens and adults.

Story (may spoil tone)

As World War I rages on, Dr. Henry Guthrie takes over a British choral society that's lost most of its men to the army. The community soon discovers that the best response to the chaos of war is to make beautiful music together.

Talk after watching

  • Loss shapes several choices here. What helps families talk honestly about grief?
  • Identity discovery drives the plot. How can families make space for honest self-expression?
